HUNTER IN ACTION

Since being sworn in as a Cambridge School Committee member in December 2022, I became the Chair of the School Climate Sub-Committee and held two open meetings on school climate. In addition, I am a School Committee representative on the Family Policy Council and the Harvard Ed Redesign Initiative. I am also a member of the Cambridge College Success Initiative, which has been funded to support up to 30 students with free tuition at Bunker Hill Community College.

Our district has been involved in, and this Member supports, Universal Pre-K, which will be implemented by the City of Cambridge and CPSD by 2024. I cosigned a policy resolution supporting CollegeBoard’s pilot of Advanced Placement African-American History of which CRLS is one of 60 schools selected. I supported and endorsed a policy resolution for free menstrual products to be available in all school bathrooms. I continue to be an advocate for reading proficiency at the third grade level and math proficiency at the eighth grade level. I am dedicated to the elimination of the achievement gap and strongly believe that the teaching staff in Cambridge’s schools should reflect the diversity of Cambridge’s residents.
